SAFETY

Your child will receive care in a warm, safe, and stimulating environment that is both clean and spacious. We have facilities in place for nappy changing and potty training, and we're here to support you with this important transition. We also provide steps for children to reach the wash basin for handwashing, promoting their independence in personal care.
Our outdoor play area is a fantastic space where children can engage in lots of physical and continuous provision activities. Rest assured, your child will always be supervised while playing outside. We will be planting and nurturing flower and vegetable seeds in our ‘children’s garden’, and we look forward to harvesting the fruits of our labour together when they’re ready to eat! In the summer months, we kindly ask that you send your child with a sun hat and sun cream, so they learn the importance of sun protection. Children will be taught about not putting unclean hands in their mouths while outdoors and certainly avoiding any plants. We will ensure handwashing happens every time they come back inside from playing outside.
Safety is our top priority. We have a fire blanket in the kitchens, annually checks fire extinguishes thought-out the building and functioning smoke alarms throughout our setting. Your child will regularly practise an emergency escape plan each term, ensuring they know what to do in case of an emergency.
We maintain public liability insurance, which is displayed for your reference on our parent notice board. All our equipment meets BS EN safety standards or complies with the Toys (Safety) Regulations, ensuring a safe play environment.
For pick-ups, only adults named on the enrolment form can collect your child. If someone else will be coming, we ask for a written note confirming their relationship to your child, contact details, photograph of the person and the time and date of the collection. We also operate a secure password system in emergencies, keeping you in touch at all times.
You can expect our setting to be clean and hygienic, and children will learn about personal hygiene as part of their daily routine.
Food is stored and prepared safely in accordance with ‘Safer Food, Better Business’ guidelines, and we are registered with Environmental Health. We proudly have a food hygiene rating of 5 from Cardiff’s Environmental Health.
Thank you for partnering with us to create a safe and caring environment for your child!
