OUR MANAGMENT TEAM

SETTLING IN SESSIONS

Starting nursery is a thrilling adventure for both you and your little one! It's a lovely space where friendships blossom, memories are created, and important developmental milestones are reached.
We understand that this can be an emotional experience, so we aim to help you and your family feel at home with us.
Our Settling In Sessions are designed to help you familiarise yourselves with our nursery and the amazing people here from the very first day. We can’t wait to welcome you to our community!
Settling In Sessions
Once you've secured a place at A Bright Start Nursery (Rumney) Ltd, we’ll invite you to arrange some settling-in sessions for your child. We recognise that every child is unique, so while we provide two complimentary settling-in sessions lasting about two hours each, we can adjust this to better suit your child's emotional needs.
During these sessions, both you and your child will meet their key worker, explore the nursery room, and share important ‘All About Me’ information. This will cover your child's likes, dislikes, interests, and current developmental stage, helping to create a smooth transition and build strong relationships. Our top priority during these sessions is to help your child get familiar with their new surroundings, ensuring they feel safe and secure in the nursery. Once your child feels comfortable, that’s when the magic happens, and their learning and development will truly flourish alongside new friendships with other children.
If you have any questions or want to check in during the settling-in sessions, please feel free to call the nursery. We will connect you directly with your child’s room and key worker for an update. We’re here to support you and your child every step of the way!
What to Bring
Getting your little one’s first nursery bag ready is such an exciting moment! If they’re up for it, why not let them help with the packing? You won’t need too much, but a spare set of clothes is a must. It’s also a great idea to include a comforting item from home, like a favourite toy or blanket. An item of clothing with your scent can really help reassure them that you'll return soon.
As your child embarks on this exciting journey, you'll receive a learning journey through the Famly App after registration. This wonderful tool allows your child's key worker to upload their drawings, photos, and cherished memories from nursery. It will be updated monthly for the whole family to enjoy.
We’re excited to have you as part of the Bright Start family!
Transition to Another Room
When it's time for your child to transition to the next room in nursery, we will have discussions involving your child's current keyworker and parents/carer. We'll consider their age and developmental stage before we set specific transition dates. Your child will enjoy two settling-in sessions in their new room, allowing them to get to know the new environment, staff, and other children before the final move. We will organise meetings and transition forms to ensure all necessary information is shared about the settling-in sessions, transition date, and the new keyworker.
Additionally, we will arrange a meeting between the current keyworker and new keyworker to discuss your child's likes, dislikes, interests, and developmental stage, making the settling-in process as smooth as possible.
Transition to School
As your child prepares to move from nursery to school, our staff are here to support you every step of the way. We can provide guidance on local schools and help with the necessary forms needed to secure a place for your child. Our preschool practitioners prepares a school transition form for every child. This form shares important details about your child's interests, stages of development, and any key information that will help their new school understand them better.
In the lead-up to this exciting transition, we engage the children in various fun activities, such as storytelling and roleplay. We also aim to arrange a visit from their new teacher, if possible, to help build familiarity. All of these activities are designed to make your child feel secure and confident as they embark on this new adventure, fostering connections and friendships as they settle into their new environment.
